World-folk band Mahesh & Tapestries of Sound are delighted to be kick off their Sunshine Tour 2023 in Gadigal Country (Sydney) at the Red Rattler, bringing their music influenced by Indian ragas, Irish modes and more’. The band comprises Carnatic singer and sonic adventurer Mahesh White-Radhakrishnan on vocals, banjo extraordinaire Dave Carr, magical multi-instrumentalist Andrew Purdam, ethereal bansuri flute wala and saxophonist Nitya Bernard Parker and 2023 Freedman Jazz award-winning clarinetist and viola player Phillippa Murphy-Haste.
The night will feature a haunting set of Maltese-Celtic experimental noir by Aimée Falzon. We’re also excited to announce the addition of the South Asian and Celtic inflused cross-cultural music of Ganathipan performed by Sydney Carnatic kuzhal flute virtuoso Venkhatesh Sritharan and guitarist Deeksha.
At a time when all of us could use some more sunshine we look forward to bringing some light and the coming together of cultures, sounds and bodies.
