Years after they lost their daughter to a domestic abuse loss, a family of 5 is still in the process of reconstructing their life emotionally and physically. Each member holds grief and guilt in their hearts and a deep-seated fear of another loss and processes these feelings in their own unique emotional manner. The main character Nitya is the 21-year-old daughter of the DV victim, Nishtha, who lost her life in the incident. Nitya’s grandparents are her supporting characters, which is why the logline addresses her as the daughter of the DV victim and not the granddaughter of the surviving family. The family includes Nishtha’s best friend, Akash, and Nitya’s best friend Sharon. Nitya becomes the connecting thread that brings ultimate closure for the family. She, in a way, represents success and hope for the whole family. She needs to free herself and, in the process, free everyone. She is the fresh start that the Sood family has needed for the past 16 years.
