Vishva Hindu Parishad of South Australia’s HOTA (Hindu Organisations, Temples & Associations) Forum welcomes all to the celebration of Raksha Bandhan festival 2024.
Raksha Bandhan is a popular Hindu festival celebrated annually to recognise the special bond between brothers and sisters. On this day, sisters tie an amulet called the Rakhi around the wrist of their brothers to symbolically bless them and receive a gift in return.
This traditionally vests the siblings with a share of the responsibility and care for each other.
HOTA Forum organises Raksha Bandhan to create interconnectivity among the 99 partner Hindu organisations in our state. This 6th Raksha Bandhan festival is a testament to the rich cultural lineage and the thousand years old Hindu traditions and values.
The event will be of interest to those who are keen to learn about Indian traditions and values through the unique Hindu way of celebration of the brother-sister bond, and anybody who would like to form networks with the Hindu community in South Australia. It will also be of interest to community development practitioners who cherish the rich multi-cultural flavour of our state.
The event will include formal Rakhi celebrations, cultural Hindu performances and shall be
graced by the presence of Minister for Multicultural Affairs & Tourism, Hon Zoe Bettison and
Deputy Leader of opposition in Legislative Council, Hon Jing Lee. The event will also recognise volunteers through the HOTA Awards and individual achievements via VHP’s Tejaswini and Young achiever’s awards. The event will be hosted by the popular media personality Ms Stacey Lee.
Entry to the event is by invitation or registration only. Representatives of media organisations and social media enthusiasts are welcome to send their interest to attend the event or request for further information to:
