Moving to another country can be exciting and promises new experiences and opportunities. But at the same time, it can be a daunting prospect for students (and their parents) and professionals alike, especially with the need to adapt to new systems and ways of life.

For people who wish to move to Australia, one of the most important things to consider is how to have greater control over your finances.

It’s important to look for a bank which makes it easy to settle in faster. Opening an Everyday Global Account at HSBC makes managing and transferring money easy from anywhere in the world.

How to apply for a bank account in Australia

HSBC now has a digital service for account opening in Australia which is available from 11 markets and territories including India, which can be completed either pre-departure or immediately upon arrival. With this new service, a fee-free* HSBC Everyday Global Account can usually be opened within a couple of days, once a completed application and supporting information has been submitted.

Transferring money overseas

One of the greatest concerns that many people may have when sending money overseas is how long it’ll take for the transfer to happen and how secure it is. With HSBC’s Global Money Transfers, international transfers are fast, secure, and easy. Customers can see an estimated time for the transfer, and the real-time exchange rate (^please note real-time exchange rates and T&Cs apply and can be found here). This means customers can transfer money when the exchange rate is more favourable.  What’s most attractive is that there are no transfer fees* when you send money in over 50 different currencies, including the Indian Rupee (INR).

Getting global support

HSBC’s global reach ensures that its customers can take advantage of getting support when and where it’s needed, from staff who are local experts that can speak multiple languages. This can be a major source of support for international students and professionals when navigating a new environment in a language that is unfamiliar to them.

Being a global bank, HSBC understand that a move overseas can feel daunting. However, with its international banking services, HSBC can help provide the peace of mind, knowing banking support is there when it is needed, so that the focus can be on the other aspects of settling in after moving overseas.
