After a series of whiplash which saw Devi Vishwakumar entertaining each of her crushes this season whilst juggling her school, social, and family life, fans of Netflix’s Never Have I Ever have taken to Twitter to profess their views.
*This may contain spoilers for season 3 of Never Have I Ever*
Many viewers recall the spirited scenes between Devi and her mother, Nalini, in earlier seasons- in one of these scenes Devi says “I heard what you said the night Dad died. You said I wasn’t your daughter. I know I’m just a burden to you.”
In season 3, the mother-daughter duo have since grown to a stage where they are healing their fractured relationship after the death of Devi’s father Mohan, and fans couldn’t be happier to see the evolution.
You’ve heard our thoughts on the show’s new season, but what have the people of Twitter been thinking?
Just finished Never Have I Ever on @netflix and I enjoyed it so much. The grief she had from the loss of her dad helped me process my loss in a way. The broken relationship with her mom, the anger, the healing, her finding herself along the way… I cried almost every episode

kinda felt that this season was more about devi, nalini and Mohan, than devi’s obsession with the boys. I loved it so much, #NHIE3 >>>>🤌🏼🔥❤ @mindykaling @ramakrishnannn

I have to say my favorite story this year was Nalini’s arc. @PoornaJags just gave the must amazing and touching performance and her memories of Mohan and her portrayal of grief and motherhood broke my heart. #NeverHaveIEver #NHIE3 #NHIE #NeverHaveIEver3

Just finished the finale of @neverhaveiever and I’m in tears. One of the many things this show gets right is the layered, complex relationship between Indian mothers and daughters. @mindykaling @PoornaJags @ramakrishnannn that last scene is one I’ll be thinking about for a while. pic.twitter.com/dIF5rHA31g

The script writing, the plot, the chaos… we are all here for it!
For some fans, the representation of grief rings all too true for them and Devi’s (and Nalini’s of course) journey of mourning can be validating.
Never Have I Ever is just so good. I adore Devi’s chaotic, messy ass. And like I have said before I love the chaotic young woc who doesn’t let her grades slip and still holds some fear of her mother rep (yes she has been rude in the past but considering the usual TV default..)

late to the netflix bingeing party, butt finally finished S3 of #NHIE. As someone who lost their pops just as I turned 20, watching Devis journey (and her growth) made me felt seen & understood. Big love to @mindykaling for creating such a hilarious and compelling story #NHIE3 ❤️

I was lukewarm on NEVER HAVE I EVER in season 1 but honestly loved season 3, this show has grown so much

So after watching the season, what now?
Some Twitter users have expressed that they do not take the Netflix show lightly. After all, Devi’s therapist Dr Ryan (Niecy Nash) has advice we could all use every once in a while.
Word on the grapevine is that filming for the fourth (and final) season wrapped this month and is expected to release sometime in 2023. Till then, looks like we’ll just have to re-watch all three seasons all over again.
