SHVEATA SINGH CHANDEL celebrates Holi Mahotsav, Sydney-style
The second weekend of April saw Sydney celebrate Holi Mahotsav in DarlingHarbour, despite the forecast for rain.
“This is the 11th year of the celebration here,” said Gambhir Watts, the President of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Australia, who organised the event. “This is a perfect setting for showcasing different colours of India. The festival commenced with Rath yatra, which passed through Martin Place, Sydney CBD, SydneyTown Hall and finally culminated in the TumbalongPark, DarlingHarbour,
“What I love about this festival is whatever you wear, however you look, everyone greets with you enthusiasm and love. [You will get] plenty of colour on you,” says Vandhana, a Delhi based student who participated in the festival.
