Australian comedy duo, Scary Strangers

Scary Strangers, aka Ru Halwala and Tom Stevenson, are touring their comedy variety extravaganza from Sydney to Delhi, Udaipur, Jaipur, and Mumbai from 22 September to 17 October 2024. Stand-up, improv, sketch, and musical comedy, all in the same show. They’re serving comedy fusion baby!

In 2023, Scary Strangers produced and hosted a national tour of The STEAM Room Science Comedy Experience featuring Doctor Karl, which performed on the main stages of Malthouse, Enmore Theatre and Brisbane Powerhouse, in addition to making their own Sydney Comedy Festival debut at Factory Theatre, and producing a 10-show improv series funded by City of Sydney called Big Cat Club. 

Scary Strangers serve their own signature cocktail of stand-up, improv, sketch, and musical comedy every time they step onto the stage! Every performance is a delicious, hilarious, comedic melange of highbrow wit and lowbrow filth. You never know what you’re going to get! Now they have a whole new hour of comedy raring to go.

Ru Halwala is an Austro-Lankan entertainment powerhouse. Blending flare, absurdity, and a unique cultural perspective into her comedy, Ru recently hosted Holi Festival Australia (Sydney, Melbourne, & Brisbane) and is part of the illustrious faculty of Improv Theatre Sydney.

Tom Stevenson is a Sydney comedy icon who delivers wit, whimsy and wackiness with every performance. He teaches drama at Redlands High School and is Head of Creative Arts at St Andrew’s College, Sydney University. 

Scary Strangers are also engaged as Improv teachers for the NSW Government, delivering improv workshops to children in the juvenile justice system.
